Hematuria

Hematuria

Voided urine from a cow: The urine was light red and slightly cloudy grossly before centrifugation. After centrifugation, the cloudiness disappeared and a distinct red sediment formed, supporting hematuria as the cause of the gross nature of the urine. This was confirmed on microscopic examination of a wet preparation of urine- there were >100 RBC/HPF and <5 WBC/HPF. The dipstick had a large reaction for heme or blood.
